I had the pleasure of attending the U.S. Coast Guard Erie Station, Birthday Celebration. The U. S. Coast Guard officially turned 228 years old on 4 August 2018. The U. S. Coast Guard was founded on 4 August 1790 when the first Congress authorized the construction of 10 vessels to enforce maritime law. This year Warriors to Washington will be taking two members of the U.S. Coast Guard Station Erie on the annual trip to Washington DC. Thank you to Officer in Charge BMC Dan Heitzer for his hospitality in welcoming me to their celebration. Here is the Chief and me on deck one of the 45 foot U. S. Coast Guard vessels that patrol Lake Erie. Thank Chief and Happy Birthday U.S. Coast Guard!
