To honor the veterans from the Erie region who were deployed and served the nation in the Armed Forces as a result of the attack on 9/11 by taking them to historical and national sites in Washington, D.C.
Our Mission
Since September 11, 2001 many of our nation’s sons and daughters have chosen to serve in our Armed Services and called to fight the Global War on Terror on the battlefields of Afghanistan, Iraq, northern Africa, and across the globe. Many fathers, mothers, husbands, and wives have endured year-plus long deployments, often multiple times, in the name of defending our freedom and way of life. In fact, we have had many here in northwestern Pennsylvania respond to the call to serve.
Our History
In 2014, Warriors to Washington took a group of post-9/11 veterans to Washington, D.C. from Erie. Warriors to Washington organized the trip as a way to show our heartfelt thanks to a group of local veterans. The inaugural trip by all means exceeded our expectations, and Warriors to Washington has since taken groups of veterans to D.C. each year.
Now in its 8th year, Warriors to Washington sponsors a group of veterans each year along with their guests for an all-inclusive trip the weekend after the 9/11 anniversary.
The trip includes stops at the National Archives to see the documents that every service person swears to defend: the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, Arlington National Cemetery, Vietnam Memorial, WWII Memorial, Flight 93 Memorial Park, and many other sites of national significance.
